At Taskers Angling we understand that deciding what type of bait to buy for fishing can at times be tricky. That is why we have put together a short guide to help you buy the perfect bait that you need to get the best catches.

1.

This may sound relatively simple but it is important to think about what fish eat. Live baits can be used, some of the most popular are worms and maggots. If for example you are pike fishing though then dead baits are probably best, these include roach and mackerel baits.

2.

If you do not want to store live creatures then artificial baits may be best suited for you. they are also quicker and easier to use compared to live bait. We would also advise choosing items such as a spinner, jigs or poppers to make the bait seem like natural food to the fish. Be wary as well to check whether artificial or live bait is best suited as well to the fish you are looking to catch.

3.

Be careful to check what bait is allowed where it is you are fishing. In some areas it is not allowed to use live bait or certain types of bait. For example in certain lakes in Cumbria the use of coarse fish is not allowed so make sure you are aware of what you are allowed to use.

4.

Finally do your research into which bait works best, or come into our store and our friendly staff will assist you in finding what it is that you need. There are advantages and disadvantages to natural and artificial bait so it is important to understand what they are and which is best suited to your style.
