Having used many baiting tools over the years with various degrees of success I keep coming back to my favoured tool. The baiting needle, whether baiting worm, crab or fish baits using a needle not only makes it easier to bait up but often improves presentation.
Those of you who are old enough to remember the Aberdeen twin point hooks will be familiar with the baiting needle that came with them, an excellent needle and until about six years ago my favourite…… until I dropped it irretrievably down a crack in a rock I was fishing on, a 25year relationship ended!..... It was at this point I tried with no success to purchase a similar needle, the modern needles were no comparison and a frustration to use, so me being me I set out to design a functional, quality baiting needle that instead of being a frustration, was a joy to use. After some tinkering with various steels and not really being satisfied with any of them I turned to carbon fibre and instantly realised this was the way forward. The stiffness and memory is unsurpassed and precisely what I was looking for. Once the precision grinding was mastered to accept the stainless steel ferrule the Trident carbon fibre was born and I firmly believe they are the finest baiting needles available.
